TOBACCO PERMIT

Requirements

WHO CAN GET A TOBACCO PERMIT?

The requirements:

  1. You must meet the requirements to obtain a Texas Sales Tax Permit, this includes:​ 

  • Your social security number.

  • Driver's License or I.D. Card.

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU ON YOUR INITIAL VISIT:

**If you obtained your beer and wine license through us we will have most of this information.

  1. ​Your legal entity name (EXAMPLE: 123 Store, LLC or South 123, Inc.) 

  2. Your Federal Identification Number (EIN) for your legal entity.

  3. The location name and address of where you will be conducting the sale of tobacco products.

  4. A reliable mailing address, cell phone number and a store phone number.

  5. One members/officers of the legal entity must provide their original signature on the application.

ONCE YOU ARE APPROVED TO SELL TOBACCO:

Approval by the State comptroller can take 2-4 weeks. 

  • If you need retailer assistance contact the Comptroller's office at 1-800-862-2260, or visit the Comptroller's website at www.comptroller.texas.gov if you have retail questions regarding cigarette, cigar and/or tobacco products tax.
